Why are we so passionate about you having a Designated Texter in your car? Because as our main occupation we fix vehicles that have been in accidents.
We at Tecumseh Autobody have customers come in weekly that have been hit in a parking lot, or in a collision due to a distracted driver.
The other big offense is when someone rear ends your car. You get out and they say "Don't call the police! I'll pay to have your car fixed!" Guess what? They probably don't want the police called because they have no insurance or they were texting or on the phone when they hit you.
So if you choose to be compassionate to the person that rear ends you...you need to know, they most likely will not be paying to have your car fixed. They will disappear without incident and you will be stuck with the bill. We see this way too often.
How many of these accidents are directly related to texting? We are not sure. We do know distracted driving causes many accidents. More than can be even documented.
So our mission is to get the word out...that if you are going to text and drive...have someone in your car do it for you! Hence the "DESIGNATED TEXTER" Bracelets.
Some may consider them corny or not fashionable....but we consider them to be life savers.
Even if not worn by someone in your car, they can be in your car to remind you NOT TO TEXT AND DRIVE...and help you to remember that your loved ones want you to come home.
